Solar lighting earns its place where trenching cable is expensive or impossible: long perimeters, remote parking, access roads, gardens added after the build. There is no supply to run, no meter to read, and the lights come on by themselves at dusk.
The engineering that matters is the autonomy calculation — how many nights the battery carries the load without a good charging day. We size the panel and lithium battery for the site's worst realistic week, not its best, so the lights are still on at 4 am in the middle of a dusty, overcast spell.
